Dialysis catheter patients experience an average of 1.5 catheter-related systemic infections per year. These infections greatly impact patient morbidity and mortality, resulting in approximately 23,000 deaths per year. Treating hemodialysis catheter related bloodstraem infections (CRBSI) cost Medicare alone an estimated $1.5B per year. There have been extensive efforts to address this need, but the various solutions have fallen short because of safety and/or efficacy concerns. Pursuit Vascular's first unique product based on the ClearGuard™ technology is being designed to prevent infections, reduce overall healthcare expenses and do so without the side effects of alternative technologies.
